✈️ ABOUT THE ABLE CENTER

A neuroaffirming home base for individuals, families, educators, and clinicians navigating complex neurodivergent profiles.

🧭 Our Mission

The ABLE Center exists to bring clarity, compassion, and neurobiological precision to families and schools who are supporting neurodivergent children and teens. We translate complex nervous‑system science into practical, everyday guidance that helps kids feel safe enough to learn, connect, and thrive.

We believe every individual across the lifespan deserves a map — not a label. A framework — not a fight. A pathway — not pressure.

🧠 Our Approach

We use a neurobiological, trauma‑informed lens to understand how stress, safety, sensory processing, and relational dynamics shape a child’s daily experience. Instead of focusing on compliance, we focus on connection, regulation, and nervous‑system alignment.

 Our approach is:

  • Neuroaffirming — honoring communication differences, autonomy, and lived experience
  • Safety‑based — recognizing that learning and flexibility only emerge when the nervous system feels secure
  • PDA‑informed — understanding demand avoidance as a stress response, not a choice
  • Aviation‑infused — using cockpit‑style visuals and flight‑path metaphors to make complex concepts clear and accessible

👩‍⚕️ Meet Dr. Jennifer I. Huffman

Author, clinician‑educator, and creator of the Neurodynamic Navigator System.

Dr. Huffman is known for her ability to take intricate neurobiological concepts and translate them into clear, compassionate frameworks that help families understand their child’s nervous system with unprecedented clarity.

Her work blends:

  • Neurobiology
  • Trauma‑informed practice
  • PDA research
  • Aviation‑based conceptual design
  • Real‑world clinical experience

She is the creator of the NDQ profiles, the Navigator System, and the Neurodynamic Safety Framework (NASF) — tools now used by families, educators, and clinicians across the country.

Her mission is simple: To help individuals, families and schools understand why a child is struggling, what their nervous system is trying to protect, and how to support them without increasing stress or conflict.

🛩️ Why Aviation?

Aviation metaphors allow us to explain complex neurobiological patterns with clarity and visual coherence. Cockpit dashboards, flight paths, and navigation systems make it easier for parents and educators to understand:

  • Stress load
  • Safety signals
  • Autonomic shifts
  • Learning readiness
  • PDA‑related overwhelm
  • NDQ profile dynamics

These metaphors create a shared language — one that reduces blame, increases understanding, and helps teams work together.

🤝 Who We Serve

 We support:

  • Neurodivergent children and teens
  • Neurodivergent Adults and their families
  • Parents and caregivers
  • Schools and educators
  • Clinicians seeking neuroaffirming frameworks
  • Families navigating PDA profiles
  • Students with complex learning, sensory, or stress‑response needs

Our work is especially helpful for individuals across the lifespan and their families who feel like traditional approaches haven’t fit their nervous system.

🌟 What Makes Us Different

  • We prioritize nervous‑system safety, not compliance
  • We use NDQ and Navigator frameworks to create clarity
  • We specialize in PDA‑informed support
  • We offer aviation‑infused visuals that make learning intuitive
  • We integrate clinical expertise with parent‑friendly communication
  • We believe every child deserves a compassionate, precise map of their neurobiology

✉️ Ready to Connect?

Whether you’re seeking evaluation, consultation, or PDA‑informed guidance, we’re here to help you understand you or your child’s nervous system and build a path forward that feels doable, compassionate, and aligned.
